CNC  TECHNOLOGY + SCULPTURE

 RECENT PROJECTS

One of my recent CNC Sculpturing projects is the Crystal Star of David Sculpture prototype for Lenox Crystal. The designers at Lenox produced a concept design for a faceted Star of David growing out of a tree trunk. Using a combination of Mastercam and Powermill CAD/CAD systems I programmed and machined a single finished prototype out of a solid block of Acrylic plastic on a Haas CNC mill. It was polished to a high gloss and then was utilized by Lenox for evaluation and research for potential production in cast lead crystal. See Articles and Reports below for the technical article  I wrote for Time Compression Technologies magazine about this project.

 ACADEMIC PURSUITS

As an Adjunct CNC Instructor in the Mechanical Engineering Technology department at Queensborough Community College, I lecture on CNC and CAM technology. I am involved with research and development for a new CNC Sculpturing curriculum. In designing the department's Web site, I created this precision animated gif.

I am affiliated with the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Studies (CAMS) as a CNC consultant and Mastercam instructor when my busy schedule permits. CAMS boasts the leading CNC training program in the New York region for both the beginner and advanced levels alike. Here is another animated gif I crafted for the CAMS Web site.
ARTICLES AND REPORTS

Over 20 years ago, when I was marketing my own line of handcrafted acrylic gifts and accessories at the New York City Gift Show, my unique designs were noticed and written up in Newsday. Much more recently, I wrote a full length technical article for the March 2002 issue of Time Compression Technologies entitled "High-Speed CAM 0f 3D Sculpted Surfaces". The cover design was created by my wife, Alma using images of my work.
