PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
CNC
Programmer and Mold Designer with ten years experience in CAD/CAM, CNC machining and programming, and injection mold design. With
over 25 years of manufacturing background, I am seeking career growth in a prototyping, mold or machine shop where I can contribute my expertise.
EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
2001 to 2003
UTLEY'S INC., Woodside, NY
CNC Programmer - Prototyping
Generating complete CNC programs for intricate 3D prototype parts utilizing Mastercam, Powermill and Artcam CAD/CAM systems focusing on rapid prototype production.
Prototyping parts and assemblies from initial 3D modeling to set up, fixturing and high speed machining on Haas, Fryer, Prolight, and Hardinge 3 and rotary 4 axis VMC's operating Anilam, Fanuc and Siemens controllers.
Programming in Anilam conversational language and training machinists for basic CNC machining operations.
1996 to present
Contract CNC Programming, Mold Design
Minico Industries:
Designed and programmed complete injection molds from Iges part files. Split cores and cavities, designed inserts, added runners, gates, holes for knock out pins, leader pins, water lines, sprue bushing etc. Machined mold bases on-site utilizing Fadal, Haas, and Comet
VMC's.
T-6 Industries:
Generated CNC programs and set up on-site production of brass parts on their Fadal VMC.
Norman Mercer Studios:
Casting and machining acrylic plastic for sculptures. Modeled sculpture designs in AutoCAD and generated Mastercam CNC programs to produce Ren shape models.
2000 to Present
Queensborough Community College
Adjunct CNC Technology Instructor
Directing CNC Laboratory operations in the evening sessions, lecturing on CNC and CAD/CAM technology and supervising student CNC projects.
Involved in the research and development of a new curriculum for CNC Sculpturing and CAD/CAM applications in art and design.
Developing a unified Mechanical Engineering Department Web site focusing on the CNC Laboratory.
1996 to
2001
POP DISPLAYS INTERNATIONAL, Queens, NY
CNC Programmer/Mold Designer
Designed injection molds, vacuum form tooling and fixtures in Mechanical Desktop to create 3D surface and solid models of cores, cavities, mold inserts, cams and electrodes.
Generated CNC programs using Mastercam and NC Polaris CAD/CAM systems and ran programs on Fadal, Bridgeport and Hurco CNC machine tools and Phoenix CNC routers.
Managed CNC operations, scheduling jobs, hiring and training personnel, evaluating and purchasing new CNC machine tools and CAD/CAM software.
Trained operators to set up and run the CNC machine tools for cutting aluminum and P20 steel tooling.
Developed high speed machining strategies utilizing Fadal surface analyzer, to maximize feed rates up to 400 IPM. Set up DNC linking systems for large 3D programs. Increased CNC machining productivity by over 200% on certain molds.
Researched and developed various rapid tooling strategies to cut mold machining time and cost. Saved over 50% in yearly material and labor costs over the expense of aluminum by introducing Ren Shape tooling board to machine production vacuum form tooling in place of 6061 aluminum.
Modeled complex 3D plastic, wood, wire and sheet metal parts for display systems using Mechanical Desktop to create parametric parts, assemblies and detail drawings. Generated STL files from 3D part models to rapid prototype SLA models.
